(To the Tune of) Treading on Grass

Twenty-second, the seventh moon, I receive a call from Qiu Yigang in Guangxi saying he’s quite unhappy with his situation, admiring mine, hence this poem.

Saplings chosen with care,

Planted afar or near.

I hear your heart’s frozen with your cold tear;

Flowers bloom to lure butterflies to fly here;

All at once, a ground of shade does appear.

The same void patch of woods,

Two uses, how great, dear.

A few chirps and cheeps, two orioles cheer.

Why should flowers in springtime bloom everywhere?

It’s enough to weave a shade of dream mere.
